Although surrounded by the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, significant parts of the coastal lowland tropical rainforest from the Daintree River to Cape Tribulation remain unprotected and are in danger from development and human activities.
These rainforests are of international conservation importance and are recognised as one of the most significant ecosystems in the world for the ecosystem services they provide, from fresh water to oxygen to carbon capture as well as supporting remarkably complex biodiversity. Rainforests are essential for life on Earth.
Rainforest Rescue’s Daintree Buy Back and Protect Forever Project identifies, purchases, and protects high conservation value rainforest at risk of development. Rainforest Rescue ensures forever protection of these precious rescues.
