2020 Annual Community Tree Planting Day – CANCELLED
We warmly invite you to our annual Community Tree Planting Day on Saturday 9th May 2020.
We’d love you to help us plant over 3,000-4,000 rainforest seedlings to help Protect Rainforest Forever.
Rainforest Rescue are hosting this year’s community tree planting day at NightWings again, after the success of our last community planting reforesting the old sugar cane plantation.
We’re looking to plant in excess of 3,000 trees this year. The holes will have been dug in advance and the site prepared. All we need are volunteers willing to get their hands dirty to help us plant the seedlings, restoring rainforest habitat. All the young trees have been propagated from seed collected across our Daintree Nature Refuges and grown at our Daintree Native Nursery.
After a morning of planting, you are invited to join us for morning tea and to hear more about our future plans for the Daintree.
With an 8:00am start we will be finished well before noon – and hopefully before it gets too hot!
LOCAL PLANTERS are encouraged to bring their own trowel & gloves if possible. If you have a rubber mallet, feel free to bring this along to assist with erecting tree screens.
ALL PLANTERS are encouraged to consider their health & safety at the event by wearing appropriate clothing, footwear and a good hat. Please bring a refillable water bottle as well.
We will have some trowels, gloves, sunscreen & water available during the planting.
If you’re on social media, we have created a Facebook event for the planting. Click here to view the event page.
Come one, come all, big or small! The more the merrier!
