Thank you for supporting Australia’s rainforests! How many trees did you plant via your purchase? Now, you can double this impact by matching BioPak’s donation – or ‘grow’ one better and beat it!

Why A$12.50 per carton?

Rainforests remain threatened by human impact, yet a small donation of A$12.50 is enough to plant and maintain one native tree. Trees are essential for our planet’s health – acting like natural air conditioners for the climate, they give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise soil and support the world’s wildlife.

For over a decade, BioPak has been a proud supporter of Rainforest Rescue – planting 96,920 trees and helping to purchase and protect 8 hectares of rainforest land.

You can amplify their impact by getting involved today.

“Together, we’re not just protecting land; we’re preserving biodiversity and creating a legacy for future generations.”

– Richard Fine, BioPak Founder

The Daintree is both incredibly unique in its concentration of animals and plants, as well as extremely diverse. For example, snakes! Most of the snakes seen in the rainforest are harmless, though some do obtain very impressive lengths.

The amethystine python (Morelia amethistina) - also known locally as a scrub python - has been confirmed to grow to over 5m in length, but anecdotal accounts suggest some larger individuals 😲. They can often be seen sun baking in the tree tops 🐍☀️.

Have you seen one recently?

Precious birds on the road! Many people now live among cassowaries or are visiting areas where they live, which can put these beautiful Daintree dwellers at risk.

Road accidents are the leading cause of cassowary mortality in Queensland. Please drive safely in cassowary country and be alert for cassowary crossing signs and the birds themselves. Do not throw rubbish or feed cassowaries from your vehicle. Alert oncoming drivers to cassowaries on the road by flashing your headlights.

Cassowaries are most active in the early morning and late afternoons but may be encountered at any time of day. When driving through cassowary habitat, particularly around Mission Beach, Bramston Beach, Coquette Point, Etty Bay, Paluma, and Cape Tribulation, please drive with care and BE CASS-O-WARY 💚.

Do you remember the @auspost Southern Cassowary stamps?

Issued back in 2019, together with the Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) and the Little Penguin (Eudyptula minor), the Southern Cassowary stamps seemed like a great idea to help raise awareness... but we haven`t seen many of them around since. Have you?

Similarly, it`s estimated that there are fewer than 4,600 cassowaries are left in the wild.

Not only are cassowaries magnificent birds, but many rainforest plants depend on them to move about the landscape. Without them, the structure of the rainforest would permanently change.

#CritterCorner: The Musky rat-kangaroo (Hypsiprymnodon moschatus) is the smallest kangaroo there is 🦘.

If you are quietly walking through Tropical North Queensland rainforest in the early morning or evening, keep your eyes on the forest floor - this is where you will most likely spot these special little critters.

These tiny `roos are native (and restricted) to the tropical rainforests of the Far North Queensland, occurring from sea level to 1200m.

The Daintree Rainforest is both uniquely rich and incredibly diverse. It hosts 12 of the world`s 19 primitive flowering plant families, offering a living museum of evolutionary history. Beyond plants, this ancient rainforest shelters 30% of Australia`s frog, reptile, and marsupial species, 65% of bat and butterfly species, and 18% of bird species.

The Daintree is a national treasure, and we believe it`s our responsibility to protect its unique species and habitats. You can play a vital role in rescuing and restoring rainforests 🌿.

Listed as endangered, it is estimated that only about 4,600 Australian Southern Cassowaries remain in the wild.

Shy by nature, they pose a threat only when defending their nests/chicks, when threatened, or if they’ve become accustomed to being fed by humans. They are in great need of our protection.
