Lot 13 Forest Creek Road, Forest Creek
Lot 13 Forest Close, Forest Creek Qld (RP 738429) is a one hectare property that was purchased and protected by Rainforest Rescue in October 2014. It was the eighth property to form the Rainforest Rescue Nature Refuge.
Lot 13 provided the missing connection we’d been waiting on between our growing holding of Forest Creek properties. It backs onto Lot 16 Forest Close – a property we purchased earlier in 2014 year (which in turn adjoins another two Rainforest Rescue properties) and is only 100 metres away from Lot 15. It also shares its southern border with the Daintree National Park, and is in close proximity to Lots 7, 8 and 9, and the World Heritage area.
Located in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest, the Forest Creek precinct is recognised as an area of high biodiversity significance. It is known to contain one endangered, three vulnerable and 11 rare plants, including species endemic to the area.
Lot 13 protects a number of rare, endemic plant species including the kamala (Mallotus polyadenos) and the black palm (Normanbya normanbyi).
Lot 13 has great road access and potential to develop. This property has only had little disturbance and the canopy is intact.
The purchase of this property was made possible by generous donations from Rainforest Rescue supporters. In particular Rainforest Rescue wishes to acknowledge the contribution from the Lord Mayors Charitable Foundation and the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife.
