Rainforest Research Project

With the support of people who share our concern and love of Australia's surviving rainforests, Rainforest Rescue is committed to making urgently needed research a reality.

Cycad - Daintree Rainforest

That's why we've joined forces with a leading ecologist to pinpoint some of our nation's most promising opportunities to learn, discover and explore the inner workings of rainforest plants, animals and ecosystems under threat. To do this, we simply put the rainforests' needs first.

It's a bit like taking an ecologists and conservationists wish lists. We overlay them, rework them and create something entirely new - priority research that solely seeks to better manage and protect our precious rainforests. Because Rainforest Rescue does not seek government funding, we are 100% free to focus on our only concern - saving rainforests.

This vital research only happens because of the generosity and vision of supportive businesses and philanthropists: wonderful individuals who trust and believe in our work. Like us, these people wish for a future in which all people cherish rainforests for their intrinsic complexity, beauty and mystery. They also know that a better understanding leads to better protection.

Robert Kooyman - Ecologist & Botanist

Forest ecologist and botanist, Robert Kooyman and his rainforest research team are exploring five complementary avenues for improving the protection of a number of threatened species and rainforest communities in Australia's subtropics.

The following research is only happening because of caring, ethical businesses and philanthropists. We invite you, too, to lend your support and join us on this unique and rewarding journey.

The following five projects need your support:

Rainforest Research #1 - The private life of the Peach Myrtle
Rainforest Research #2 - Walking with Rainforests
Rainforest Research #3 - Discovery of the Nightcap Oak
Rainforest Research #4 - Vital Science for Big Scrub Landcarers
Rainforest Research #5 - Genetic Footprints of Rainforest Trees
