Orangutan Mother and Baby playing

Spare a thought today for our intrepid Rainforest Rescue supporters heading into the rainforests of North Sumatra, Indonesia on the Orangutan Adventure Trek. The group achieved fantastic fund raising outcomes in our charity challenge, helping to jointly raise $25,000 for rainforest restoration and protection projects in Indonesia.  Most people achieved above their personal fund raising goal with one participant doubling it! This achievement was made possible through the great support from their friends, families and networks and we extend our thanks to all family and friends who give on behalf of Rainforest Rescue supporters. For those completing the trek the hard work put into raising the funds was only the first step in this journey of personal satisfaction and growth.

The participants look forward to meeting with our project partners; the Orangutan Information Centre to get an insight into forest conservation and restoration in Indonesia, then to Bukit Lawang to view Orangutans and other species such as the Thomas Leaf Monkey, then they will set out on their 5 day rainforest trek. After the trek, the group will meet Asian Elephants in beautiful rivers and help to plant some trees as part of Rainforest Rescue’s Plant A Rainforest Indonesia Project.

The trekkers are going to keep us posted on their progress with stories and pictures so watch this space :)
